Monitor Colour ManagementAll monitors vary in how they display images, particularly photographs, due to the wide range of colours, contrast & brightness. Ideally your monitor should be calibrated using specialist hardware & software, but I appreciate most don't need to go to these lengths just for viewing purposes. In the gallery section 'Monitor Calibration' you will find a graduated step wedge from pure white to total black. Enlarge this image and use the contrast, brightness & colour controls of your monitor to: (1) make each wedge discernable from the next with the contrast set around 50% and adjust brightness as necessary (70-80%) (2) as neutral grey as possible using the (RGB) Red, Green & Blue sliders. Using the on screen display (OSD) accessed via your monitor, select colour temperature and in most instances reduce the blue slider (amount) untill the step wedge & white background is neutral in colour. The red and green will probably be around 50% and can be left at this. Most modern LCD displays will show a blue colour cast. This should to some degree give a fairer representation of my work. However to see the true beauty of the fine art printing process (as discussed in the prints section) you can order a proof print from the relevant gallery section. |
